Out Of Hours
SEBDOC (South and East Belfast Doctor on Call) – provides emergency medical services when surgeries are closed, i.e. evenings, night time, weekends and bank holidays.
Initially patients give details to the receptionist. Calls will be triaged and doctors will phone back at the earliest opportunity to assess what action needs to be taken. Frequently telephone advice is all that is required, either to deal with the problem or to give advice for the control of symptoms until the patient can be seen at the next ordinary surgery at the Medical Centre. Sometimes advice is given for the patient to go direct to a hospital’s Accident and Emergency department or an ambulance might be called for cardiac or other serious cases.
Patients might be requested to attend for consultation and examination at the SEBDOC Centre. If the doctor considers the patient is too ill to travel, then a house visit may be made. SEBDOC is not a “drop in” service and initial contact must be made by telephoning 028 9079 6220.
Telephone calls to SEBDOC are recorded to monitor service quality.
